My strengths as an interpreter

Ik beschik over ruime ervaring als beëdigd tolk en beëdigd vertaler. I have extensive experience as a sworn translator and interpreter. Ik ben het gewend via videoconferentie of telefonisch te tolken. I am used to interpreting over the phone or via videoconference. Ik bereid mijn tolkopdrachten altijd grondig voor. I always prepare myself thoroughly for the assignments for which I am going to interpret. Het leukste van tolken vind ik mensen met elkaar te kunnen verbinden. What I like most about interpreting is to make communication between people possible. When it comes to interpreting, I especially like the way it works; the way the best terms are used, the way the best words are formulated and the way the right tone is chosen. When translating, I am particularly interested in being able to go deeper into the text, to find the right terms, to formulate the sentence as well as possible and to choose the right tone. Mijn ruime ervaring heb ik opgedaan bij het beëdigd tolken bij notariskantoren, de Inmigratie en Naturalisatie Dienst en de Raad voor de Rechtsbijstand onder andere. I have gained my extensive experience interpreting as a sworn interpreter at notary offices, the Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND) or the Council for Legal Aid (RvR), among many others.

About my interpreting experience

I have gained my interpreting experience at notary offices (passing of deeds of mortgage and delivery for the sale or purchase of a house, wills, marriage contracts and cohabitation agreements); IND (Asylum procedures); Council for Assistance (RvR); private individuals (e.g. medical examinations by order of the CBR); courts (magistrates' court and multiple chamber); Police (also in penitentiary institutions and detention centers); Reclassering Nederland (in person and mostly by telephone). I am listed in the Register of Sworn Interpreters and Translators with the number 1136. Because I am not only a sworn interpreter but also a sworn translator, I have knowledge that derives from the documents I translate. This benefits the interpretation work. I translate for notaries (deeds of incorporation of companies and the relevant statutes, wills, prenuptial agreements, powers of attorney, etc.), for the Justice Department/Public Prosecutor's Office (summons, subpoenas, requests for legal assistance), private individuals (e.g. birth certificates, unmarried statements, certificates of inheritance, diplomas, tax returns and annual statements) and also for companies (websites, contracts, general terms and conditions, newsletters). He adquirido mi experiencia como intérprete jurada trabajando para notarías (otorgamiento de escrituras de compraventa de inmuebles, testamentos, capitulaciones matrimoniales y contratos de convivencia entre otros); en juzgados; para la Policía (en centros penitenciarios y de detención); para el IND (Servicio de Inmigración y Naturalización); para el servicio de Reinserción Social neerlandés (tanto presencialmente como por teléfono); para el Consejo de Asistencia Jurídica (Raad voor de Rechtsbijstand). Estoy inscrita en el Registro para Intérpretes y Traductores Jurados con el número 1136. Además de intérprete soy traductora jurada. Esta actividad favorece mi trabajo de interpretación. Traduzco para notarías (escrituras de constitución de sociedades y los correspondientes estatutos testamentos, capitulaciones matrimoniales, testamentos, contratos de convivencia); para el Ministerio Fiscal (citaciones, solicitudes de asistencia judicial/comisiones rogatorias); particulares (partidas de nacimiento, certificados de soltería, fes de vida, diplomas, declaraciones del impuesto de la renta de las personas físicas y certificados de ingresos y retenciones) y también para todo tipo de empresas comerciales (sitios web sus productos, contratos, condiciones generales o boletines informativos).

About me (place of birth, native language, other details)

I was born and raised in San Vicente de la Barquera, a Spanish fishing village in the beautiful region of Cantabria, and in 1980 I came to the Netherlands. After living in Eindhoven for a few years I moved to Arnhem. So my mother tongue is Spanish but Dutch has conquered my heart; the inventiveness and drive for innovation and further development of the Dutch people can also be seen in the language. I am a sworn interpreter and translator and I find the combination of both disciplines fascinating and enriching. I follow developments in Spain and Spanish-America through the Internet, television, press and radio. I travel to Spain several times a year because that is where all my family and very good friends live. I studied Spanish Language and Literature in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, and took several interpreter and translator courses. I love nature and (winter) sports and reading. I read all kinds of things, novels, legislation and news, lots of news. I am very communicative and thoroughly enjoy when I can connect people that is why I like interpreting so much. When translating I especially enjoy the depth; finding the best terms, formulating the best sentence and choosing the right tone. And in everything, the factor of helping plays a role; I apparently love helping. I am registered (number 1136) in the Register of Sworn Interpreters and Translators managed and maintained by the Legal Aid Board. Continuing education is one of the requirements to be and remain on the Register. I am a member of several organizations of interpreters and translators. Prior to my interpreting and translation career, I worked as a communications officer for eight years, among other things.
