My strengths as an interpreter

As an interpreter, I work with commitment, care and a great sense of responsibility. It is important to me that message, tone and cultural nuances are conveyed correctly. My bilingual and bicultural background allows me to understand clients and agencies well. I am calm in tense situations, guard my neutrality and handle information with strict confidentiality.

About my interpreting experience

I have been actively working as a professional Dari-Dutch interpreter since 2024. During this period I have gained experience within almost all areas of interpreting, including IND procedures, court hearings, interviews with lawyers, police and Marechaussee, VluchtelingenWerk Nederland, Nidos and other government and social agencies. I have worked through placement agencies such as Global Talk, Acolad and ELAN. My current level of work is approximately two to two and a half years.

About me (place of birth, native language, other details)

I was born in Peshawar, Pakistan, where my Afghan parents stayed temporarily after fleeing during the war in Afghanistan. My ancestry and mother tongue are Afghan; Dari is my native language. Because I have lived in Pakistan and been exposed to many different languages and cultures, I can also understand and speak Urdu reasonably well. In addition, I understand and speak Farsi (Iran and Tajikistan), Dari variants within Afghanistan and Pashto (Afghan accent) to a reasonable degree. For these languages I do not have formal certificates, but I do have practical language skills. I have lived in the Netherlands for over 28 years now and am fully integrated into Dutch society.

Credentials

In December 2023, I obtained my diploma as a Dari-Dutch interpreter. I possess language level C1 in both Dutch and Dari (previously B2). In addition, I have completed several other courses in the Netherlands (about four diplomas), which can be demonstrated and presented if necessary. Relevant certificates and diplomas are available upon request.
