My strengths as an interpreter
My strengths as an interpreter are my reliability, accuracy, and impartiality. I believe it is important that conversations are conveyed in full and as faithfully as possible, without adding my own opinion or interpretation to the content. Thanks to my experience with various types of conversations, I am accustomed to adapting quickly to different conversation partners, situations, and topics. I can interpret for one-on-one conversations as well as group and roundtable discussions, while maintaining the appropriate professional distance. In addition, I excel at personal communication and building trust. I put people at ease and ensure that both parties can understand each other clearly. Even when conversations are sensitive or complex, I remain calm, professional, and focused. Another strength of mine is that I listen carefully and pay close attention to the context of a conversation. I strive to convey not only the words but also the speaker’s intent accurately, without losing sight of the neutrality of my role as an interpreter.
About my interpreting experience
I have experience as an interpreter in various professional and social contexts. In my work, I have interpreted for, among other things, **one-on-one conversations, group discussions, and roundtable discussions**. In doing so, I have gained experience facilitating conversations between clients who speak other languages and organizations and agencies. I gained part of my interpreting experience at **the Ministry of Defense**, where I worked as a trainee interpreter. I have also provided interpreting services for the **City of Venlo**, among others. My experience has taught me to quickly adapt to various conversational situations and to work carefully, independently, and professionally. I am accustomed to handling a wide range of topics and conversation partners, ensuring that communication between both parties is as clear and comprehensive as possible. In addition to oral interpreting, I believe it is important to prepare thoroughly for an assignment and to take into account the terminology and context specific to a particular conversation or field.
About me (place of birth, native language, other details)
I was born in Lviv (Ukraine), and my native language is Ukrainian. In addition to my native language, I am also fluent in Dutch. Thanks to my background and experience, I am able to empathize with people from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds. A key characteristic of mine is that I place great value on reliability, personal contact, and a professional attitude. I believe it is important for people to feel heard and understood. As an interpreter, I work meticulously, independently, and discreetly, and I adhere to the role and responsibilities inherent in the profession of interpreting.
