My strengths as an interpreter

Firmly rooted in both Dutch and Ethiopian society, I am an expert Amharic <> Dutch interpreter at C1 level, with around 40 years of experience in public life. I switch easily between both languages, language levels and cultures. * My knowledge of both languages is extensive. My vocabulary is large, and I command not only colloquial speech, but also specialist jargon. * I am culturally sensitive: I recognise and understand underlying social conventions and cultural nuances, while remaining neutral. * I am independent, objective and always maintain my professional neutrality. I am an impartial party between conversation partners. * I am available for both phone and video interpreting as well as on-site interpreting, including at irregular hours. I have my own transport. • I can be deployed across a wide range of social domains.
