Interpreters for CBR Exams — for Driving Schools, Training Providers and Employers
Do you have a candidate, student or employee whose Dutch is not yet good enough for the CBR exam? Tolk2Go arranges a sworn interpreter with a valid interpreter pass (tolkenpas) for the theory exam, the practical exam or the driving assessment — from moped and car to truck, bus, tractor and LZV.

The CBR does not permit an interpreter at taxi, executive driver and transport escort exams.

How to arrange an interpreter
- Book the exam with the CBR and state that the candidate is bringing an interpreter. Without that registration, the examiner may refuse the interpreter.
- Submit an interpreter request to Tolk2Go. Choose the language, and choose exactly the same exam as shown on the CBR invitation or letter.
- Choose an interpreter and confirm. You see who is available, and at what all-in price.
- Coordinate with the interpreter for practical exams. You receive their contact details after confirmation.
- Exam day. The interpreter identifies themselves to the examiner with their interpreter pass and interprets the exam.
What does an interpreter for a CBR exam cost?
Fixed rate, from € 238 for a theory exam. Including travel costs and VAT.
No fixed rate — the price depends on the language, the length of the exam and the travel distance. You see the full amount before you confirm.
The CBR charges no extra exam fee for a practical exam with an interpreter.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can an interpreter attend a CBR practical exam?
Yes. For car, motorcycle and car with trailer this has been allowed since 2018. For CCV practical exams — truck, bus, tractor and LZV — Tolk2Go also supplies interpreters since 1 August 2026.
Does the interpreter ride along in the vehicle?
Not always. There is not always room in the vehicle, and the examiner decides. For the tractor licence the interpreter never rides along. If the interpreter stays at the exam centre, they interpret by phone during the drive — the candidate brings a charged phone and a phone holder for this.
Can I book on behalf of a candidate as an employer or driving school?
Yes. You book in your organisation's name and enter the candidate's CBR candidate number. Companies can pay by invoice after approval.
How quickly can I get an interpreter?
Always submit a request — it is free and you are not committed to anything. Interpreters often respond within minutes. The earlier you request, the more choice and the sharper the price, but short notice often works too.
What if the interpreter does not show up?
Then you pay nothing, or you receive a full refund of the interpreter costs within three working days. We try to find a replacement, but at short notice we cannot guarantee one.
What are the cancellation terms?
For a practical exam you can cancel free of charge up to 3 working days before the exam, via the app or the website. For theory exams and driving assessments the CBR terms apply. See the customer FAQ for full details.
