Tolk2Go is a platform where freelance interpreters offer interpreting services via their own profile, with transparent pricing and client choice where applicable.
Tolk2Go is an online platform where sworn and qualified interpreters offer their services. Each interpreter has a dedicated profile page, and you set your own fees.
We launched in November 2018 after one year of preparation. Our initial 50 sworn interpreters signed up quickly.
2600+ interpreters from Europe have joined, and our network grows yearly through referrals and marketing.
Our clients include notaries, lawyers, health services, media, schools, and many more. 190+ languages are in demand — from English and Polish to Thai, Indonesian, and Japanese.
No. Tolk2Go connects customers with interpreters for remote or on-site assignments only. Interpreting is spoken language support, not written translation.
You work as a freelancer or self-employed interpreter. Tolk2Go does not employ interpreters.
That varies. It depends on demand for your language pair, your location and availability, your qualifications, specialisations and profile, and whether clients choose you after you indicate availability. With a live profile you can receive requests; how many depends on these factors.
No. Tolk2Go provides interpreters for spoken languages only: on site, by telephone and by video. We do not provide sign language interpreters or speech-to-text interpreters.
We found your contact details in a public interpreter register. When a client needs an interpreter for your language pair, we email you to ask whether you are available. Each email is only a question: it is not a booking, and you are free to decline. If you no longer want to receive these requests, reply “Stop”.
Create a profile, share languages and specialisations, complete verification, and then you can start receiving requests.
Register by creating a profile. List your language pairs, specializations, fees, and experience. You can register on our website or via the Tolk2Go for Interpreters app.
Register here or download our Tolk2Go App for Interpreters.
You must meet one of these: be sworn in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, or France; have a diploma that demonstrates your language and interpreting skills; or have at least 100 hours of demonstrable interpreting experience. In addition, you must master both languages of each language pair you offer at CEFR level B2 or higher. B2, C1, and C2 meet this requirement.
If you have a VAT number, enter it in your profile's financial section. If you do not have a VAT number, enter the two-letter country code of the country where you are registered (for example, NL for the Netherlands), then save the details.
In the Tolk2Go interpreter app, tap Profile and then Qualifications to upload or update your qualification documents. The same steps work in the web version of the app at www.tolk2go.com/interpreter.
No. Tolk2Go does not offer a language or interpreting assessment or a trainee route. If you are not sworn and have neither a diploma nor at least 100 hours of interpreting experience, we recommend following an interpreting course first.
You set your own rates. The total client price includes your fee, travel if applicable, and a platform fee. Payments follow after completion and correct closure in the app.
In the Interpreter app, open Profile. Under Skills and fees, choose Languages & fees, select the relevant language pair, adjust the rate, and save.
For each language pair, you can set your hourly rate and enable or disable individual specialisations. Some specialisations may also show separate half-day and full-day rates.
Save your changes. Rate changes apply to new assignments only.
In the Interpreter app, open Profile. Under Skills and fees, choose Languages & fees, select the relevant language pair, adjust the rate, and save.
No, we do not offer separate weekend or evening rates.
Log in to your account and set a high rate for telephone interpreting in the "Travel and Other Rates" section.
The total price the client pays is your interpreting fee plus travel costs, including travel time where applicable, and a platform fee of at least 40%. Your hourly rate is converted into a per-minute rate, with a guaranteed minimum amount.
After the assignment, mark it as complete in the app and enter the actual times.
Enter an earlier actual start when you and the client agreed to start earlier. Enter a later actual start only when you started later due to your own fault. If the later start was caused by the client or by circumstances outside your control, the booked start time remains leading and you should not replace it with the later time.
The submitted start and end times determine the calculated duration and can affect the resulting credit note. Extra preparation or other extra work is not added afterwards: propose it in advance in the app with “Propose extra time/fee” and start once the client has approved it.
Enter a rate per kilometre for both travel time and travel expenses. Distances are calculated in a straight line. Adjust your rate to cover any extra distance in real life.
Your hourly rate can include some preparation time. If extra preparation is needed, request it in the app so it is sent to the client; once the client agrees, you are paid for it. If you charge preparation separately, the client can cancel free of charge.
Notary work requires detailed study of legal documents. You often need 1–2 hours of preparation per hour of interpreting. Your rate for these notary assignments includes that preparation time. Minor overtime up to 15 minutes is included for notary bookings covering up to two deeds.
Minor overtime up to 15 minutes is included in the standard notary rate for up to two deeds. No extra charge applies.
If a third deed is added or the session runs significantly longer, please email us after the assignment and put the notary in CC. We will verify the additional work and request approval before any extra costs are processed.
Overtime at a notary assignment is paid at 50% of your normal hourly rate. This is because your standard notary rate already includes preparation time, and overtime does not require additional preparation.
After your assignment, Tolk2Go invoices the client. You receive a credit note the next day, and payment is transferred within two weeks, provided you have correctly completed the assignment in the app.
First check that the assignment was completed correctly in the app and that the normal payment period has passed. If payment is still missing, contact Tolk2Go support with the assignment reference number so the payment status can be investigated. Do not send bank or other sensitive payment details unless support specifically requests them through an appropriate channel.
If an assignment runs longer than booked, record the extra time in the app. For on-site assignments, let the client sign in the app after completion; if no one is available to sign, press Send confirmation request so the client confirms by email, and add a photo at the location at the end time as proof. For remote assignments, upload a screenshot of your call history. With the client's confirmation or this proof, the extra time can be paid.
If an assignment is shorter than booked, your payment does not automatically go down. If the client did not attend, the standard no-show rules apply.
Set a minimum amount per assignment in the Tolk2Go interpreter app: tap Profile, then Availability. You can set one minimum amount for on-location assignments and one for remote (phone or video) assignments. Every assignment then pays at least that amount, also when it is short.
You respond to availability requests, the client confirms the booking, and you close the assignment in the app after completion.
Tolk2Go connects clients with independent freelance interpreters. You set your rates and indicate your availability separately for each request. The client selects one interpreter from the available options where the normal booking flow applies. A request becomes a booking only when the client confirms it through the platform.
For a detailed step-by-step explanation, see: How Does It Work for Interpreters at Tolk2Go?
You indicate your availability per request. When you receive a request, answer Yes or No for its date, time, location and rate. With Yes you keep that time free until the client confirms the booking or the request expires. As long as the request is open, you can change your answer in the app or with the buttons in its email.
After a booking is confirmed, contact the client to arrange practical details such as arrival, access, documents, video link or call method. Make sure you are prepared, on time, reachable and well equipped for the assignment.
Let Tolk2Go know when something affects the agreed scope, time, payment, cancellation status or legal compliance.
Plan your journey with enough margin for traffic and public transport delays: the scheduled start time stays the same. If you are running late anyway, contact the client straight away. Late arrival can reduce your payment or mean no payment.
You indicate your availability per request, by answering Yes or No. Nothing else is needed.
Yes. As a freelance interpreter, you may arrange another interpreter to take over the assignment directly.
The only conditions are that you obtain the client’s agreement beforehand and ensure that the replacement is at least equally qualified.
You do not need to cancel the assignment, obtain Tolk2Go’s approval, inform Tolk2Go, or ask Tolk2Go to verify the replacement’s qualifications.
If you arrange the replacement independently, the replacement invoices you rather than Tolk2Go. You remain Tolk2Go’s contracting party and responsible for the assignment and for ensuring that the replacement meets the qualification requirements.
For assignments longer than 30 minutes, a second interpreter may be arranged for simultaneous interpretation if needed. Please check with the client to confirm if a second interpreter is required.
After a booking is confirmed, you receive the assignment details by email or in the app. You then arrange practical details, such as arrival, access, documents, video link or call method, directly with the client.
Let Tolk2Go know when something affects the agreed scope, time, payment, cancellation status or legal compliance.
Immediately after the assignment, open it in the app, press Finish assignment and:
Correct closure and proof help prevent payment delays and disputes.
You can work via telephone or video call, or travel to a location specified by the client.
For telephone and video assignments, you must be reachable on your registered phone number for the entire booked time window, even if the client does not call immediately.
For phone assignments, the client always calls you. Do not call the client yourself, even if the client is late: if you both call at the same time, you each get a busy signal.
Make sure your phone is charged, your connection is stable, and your chosen call or video app is tested before the scheduled start time.
If the client does not call, answer, or connect, follow the standard no-show procedure, save proof of availability, and remain reachable until the end of the booked period.
The client requests a different date, time or location with Request Change in the Tolk2Go app. You then see Review Customer's Change Request on the assignment and choose Accept Customer's Change Request, Reject Customer's Change Request or Discuss Change Request with Customer. If you reject it, the booking stays as it was.
If a client asks you to change a booking directly, ask them to request it through the app, so the original cancellation terms stay valid for you.
The rate, duration and scope confirmed at booking apply. You can propose different terms through the Tolk2Go app; the client decides whether to accept them. If the client does not accept and the assignment is then cancelled, no cancellation compensation applies.
For extra work beyond the original booking, such as extra time, extra preparation or additional tasks:
Extra work that is agreed and approved this way is paid.
A client can cancel free of charge up to 48 hours before the scheduled start time, and also within 2 hours after booking. If the client cancels later, you receive cancellation compensation, including travel time and travel costs where applicable.
Clients cancel via the Tolk2Go website or app; that is how a cancellation is registered. A phone call or email to you does not count as a cancellation. If a technical problem prevents the client from cancelling on the platform, the cancellation counts once Tolk2Go confirms it in writing.
If a client asks you to cancel or reschedule, ask them to do it through the app or website, so the cancellation terms stay valid for you.
An arrangement you make directly with the client to reschedule or cancel falls outside our terms. The client can then rely on your agreement, so we cannot invoice the original assignment, and we cannot pay you for it either, even if you kept the time free or prepared.
So always refer the client to the Tolk2Go app or website. If a client wants to cancel or reschedule within 48 hours of the start, ask them to cancel the booking themselves in the app or on the website; that keeps your cancellation compensation intact.
First try to resolve it directly with the client. If the issue affects payment, scope, legal compliance or the outcome of the assignment, let Tolk2Go know and send clear supporting proof. Payment for the assignment is settled once the issue is resolved.
Report it as soon as possible, preferably right after the assignment.
Enter your actual times in the app within 24 hours after the assignment; you get a reminder for this. If you don't, the booked times are used. Once the credit note has been sent, the times can no longer be changed.
Yes, you can cancel a confirmed booking yourself in the app or on the website.
Every interpreter has a reliability score. You earn points each time you correctly complete an assignment, and extra points for working regularly.
Points are deducted when you cancel a confirmed booking, more for a late cancellation (within 48 hours), and a no-show costs the most points. A higher score strengthens your position on the platform.
The score counts assignments that took place in the past 12 months, by the date of the assignment, not the date it was booked. The score is updated after an event such as a completed assignment or a cancellation, not every day. Assignments that are more than 12 months old only stop counting at that next update, so several older assignments can drop off at the same moment as a newly completed one. Your total score can then go down even though the new assignment was counted.
The client chooses the languages, date, time and location, and you receive a request to indicate your availability. With Yes or Available you report that you are available; the client then chooses one interpreter from the available options. When the client chooses you, the booking is confirmed.
You can see whether the request has been booked on the website or in the app. When you are chosen, you also receive a booking confirmation by email.
You change your availability per request: use the buttons or link in the request email, or open the request in the app. As long as the request is open, you can change your answer there. Your answer is registered through those buttons or the app, not through a reply to the email.
Handle small practical issues, such as delays, misunderstandings, access questions or coordination, directly with the client. Let Tolk2Go know when the issue affects the agreed scope, time, payment, cancellation status, safety or legal compliance.
Keep proof, such as emails, screenshots, photos, signed confirmations or written messages. It protects both you and Tolk2Go.
The request may already have been filled by another interpreter. Answer requests as soon as you can, while they are still visible.
Send support a screenshot and describe what is displayed incorrectly.
Email support@tolk2go.com straight away. If we hear from you within one hour of the cancellation, we can usually restore the booking or assignment. If it can’t be restored, the client submits a new request.
That varies. It depends on demand for your language pair, your location and availability, your qualifications, specialisations and profile, and whether clients choose you after you indicate availability. With a live profile you can receive requests; how many depends on these factors.
Email it@tolk2go.com with a description of the issue and a screenshot.
Use the button or link in that invitation email. It opens a short form that is already filled in for that request: add your details and rates, activate your profile, and indicate whether you are available. Registering through the regular sign-up page does not answer that specific request.
If you cancel a confirmed booking within 48 hours before the start time (for CBR assignments: within the CBR deadline of that booking), a reconnection fee applies and that situation is disconnected in all your language pairs until the invoice is paid.
Tip: for assignments other than CBR, you can arrange a replacement interpreter with the customer’s consent instead of cancelling. That is not a cancellation, so no reconnection fee applies.
Short-notice cancellations also lower your reliability score.
Yes. When an assignment is completed, Tolk2Go asks the client and the participant for a review: in the completion email, on the confirmation page, or in a separate email if completion was already signed. The review is about the whole assignment: how Tolk2Go arranged it and how you did the interpreting. What clients write about you is added to your profile. Not every client leaves a review.
Reply to each request on its own: say Yes to every one you can and want to take, and No to the others. You do not need to cancel an assignment that is already confirmed or choose for the client: the client decides which booking goes ahead and cancels the rest.
By default, search results are sorted by relevance. Relevance looks at the total price for the client (including travel costs), how reliable the interpreter is, how often they say yes to requests, and their reviews. Clients can also sort the results by price or by reviews.
The email means the completion was not sent in the app yet. Open the assignment in the app, press Finish assignment, fill in the completion details and press Send confirmation request. No signature is needed: the client confirms by email.
Once the booking is confirmed, you receive the client's contact details by email. You also find them in the Tolk2Go interpreter app: open the assignment and see Contact details. If the client still has to pay in advance or be approved for payment by invoice, the details follow once that is done. For CBR theory exams, the candidate's name and contact details are never shared, also not after the exam.
No. Tolk2Go doesn’t provide interpreting equipment, such as a whisper set, headsets, or a booth. The client checks with the interpreter whether they have it or can provide it, and what it costs. If you can provide equipment, agree it and any extra costs with the client in advance.
No, we don't record absences. Simply ignore the requests you receive in that period or answer No; declining has no consequences. Do check whether you have a confirmed assignment in that period.
Yes. Until the client has booked you, you can withdraw your availability at any time by changing your answer to No in the app or on the request page. This has no consequences.
Please withdraw as soon as you take on other work at the same time, so you are not booked for two assignments and then have to cancel one. Once you are booked, withdrawing is a cancellation: points are deducted from your reliability score, and a late cancellation can also cost a reconnection fee.
A confirmed booking is based on the details entered by the client. Material changes must go through Tolk2Go. Do not solve booking-content changes informally if you want the correct rules to remain applicable.
The client enters the booking details, such as date, time, address, language and contact details. You work from the confirmed booking details shown on the platform.
Ask the client to request the correct date, time or location with Request Change in the Tolk2Go app; you then accept or reject it. Leave the confirmed booking as it is until then, so the booking and cancellation terms stay valid for you.
The client requests the new address with Request Change in the Tolk2Go app. You see Review Customer's Change Request on the assignment and accept or reject the new location. A different location can change the price; if you reject it, the booking stays as it was.
Small practical details, such as the entrance, room number, department, access instructions or call method, you can arrange directly with the client. They don’t change the booking.
Let Tolk2Go know as soon as possible. Until it is resolved, the confirmed booking details apply. Keep written proof of what was communicated.
Ask the client to request it with Request Change in the Tolk2Go app, and accept or reject it under Review Customer's Change Request. That way the price, the payment, the emails and your cancellation terms stay correct.
Small practical changes that don’t affect the price, you can agree directly with the client.
Let Tolk2Go know as soon as possible. The candidate is responsible for the CBR details, including the candidate number and exam details, so leave the correction to them and Tolk2Go.
After a booking is confirmed, the client and assigned interpreter exchange any documents or assignment materials directly with each other. Tolk2Go does not receive, forward, store, or provide these materials.
This applies to all types of material, including preparation documents, case files, deeds, presentations, photos, identity documents, and professional cards. Each participant normally decides whether to provide requested material.
If the task description explicitly states that particular documents or materials are required, the interpreter is expected to meet that disclosed assignment requirement.
A no-show is different from a delay. If the client is absent or unreachable, follow the no-show procedure, save proof, and remain available until the end of the booked time.
Wait 5 minutes after the scheduled start time. If the client is still absent or unreachable, send a No-Show alert in the Tolk2Go app, save proof of presence, and stay available until the end of the booked time.
For example a timestamped photo, screenshot, location check-in, call log, app log or written confirmation showing that you were on location or reachable. Keep it in case the payment or no-show outcome is disputed later.
Until the end of the booked time. On site, stay at or near the agreed location, unless the client confirms otherwise in writing with Tolk2Go in CC. For phone or video, stay reachable on your registered contact details for the full booked time.
The party who is present and waiting should tap Send “No-Show” Alert if the other party is absent or unreachable after the normal waiting period.
In other words: the person who is waiting and ready should send the no-show alert.
Contact the client straight away. Being late is not the same as a no-show. Travel problems such as traffic, parking or public transport delays are your own responsibility and can reduce your payment or mean no payment.
That counts as late arrival, not as a no-show. Let the client know straight away and keep written proof of your messages. If your delay affects the assignment, it can affect your payment.
Send the client a written message or email at or shortly after the start time, with Tolk2Go in CC, saying that you are on location or waiting for the call. That message serves as your proof.
Stay available until the end of the booked time for full no-show payment. If you leave earlier, you are paid for the time you were present or reachable, unless the client confirms in writing, with Tolk2Go in CC, that you may leave and that the full booked amount still applies.
The No-Show alert and proof of presence are what secure your payment in a no-show. So send the alert on time, keep proof, and stay available for the full booked time.
Then the assignment can still go ahead within the booked time, if that is practically possible. The booked time stays the same. Keep proof of what happened and of your availability while you waited.
CBR assignments follow separate rules. Only eligible interpreters may perform them, the booking flow differs from regular assignments, and strict CBR conduct rules apply.
CBR assignments are only for interpreters who meet the applicable CBR requirements.
You must follow the official work instructions, prepare using the terminology lists, and comply with the CBR code of conduct before accepting or carrying out CBR work.
The official instructions are published here: tolk2go.com/page/cbr-instructions.
Use the official lists to prepare. The CBR terminology lists exist only in Dutch and, for some exams, in English; there are no lists in other languages. The candidate must know the designated Dutch terms, and you may not translate them during the exam. Find the terminology lists here: tolk2go.com/page/cbr-list.
Yes. Before carrying out CBR assignments, you must download, complete, sign, and send the CBR Code of Conduct.
You can find it here: tolk2go.com/page/cbr-code.
No. For CBR assignments, no client signature is required in the app.
After the exam, open the assignment in the app, press Finish assignment, fill in the completion details and press Send confirmation request. The client then confirms by email.
CBR assignments work a bit differently:
That depends on the type of exam.
Theory exams and driving assessments (fixed rate): the fixed rate includes € 15 travel pay for the first 15 km one way (30 km return). For a longer distance you receive € 0.50 per extra kilometre (return) on top, up to a maximum. The request always shows the exam part and the travel pay separately. For a car theory exam, for example: “€ 141 excl. VAT (exam € 126 + travel € 15)” nearby, or “€ 166 excl. VAT (exam € 126 + travel € 40)” at 40 km one way.
Practical exams: the travel distance is reimbursed on top of the fee.
After the exam, open the assignment in the app, press Finish assignment, fill in the completion details and press Send confirmation request; no client signature is needed. The client then confirms by email, and your payment is processed.
During a CBR exam, you act as a neutral interpreter only.
Use the official terminology lists to prepare: tolk2go.com/page/cbr-list.
For CBR theory exams and driving assessments: no. Contact with the candidate is not part of the process, so you don’t request or share contact details.
For CBR practical exams: yes. After confirmation you receive the client's contact details, as for a standard booking, so you can arrange where and when to meet and what to bring.
Let Tolk2Go know as soon as possible. The candidate is responsible for the CBR exam details, such as exam type, location, date, time and candidate number, so leave the correction to them and Tolk2Go.
Arrive on time: CBR keeps its own start time, and a delay can affect both your payment and the candidate’s exam. Travel problems such as traffic, parking, public transport or a flat tyre are your own responsibility. If you are running late, let Tolk2Go know straight away.
CBR assignments have their own cancellation rules. You find them on the CBR cancellation page: tolk2go.com/nl/page/cbr-cancellation.
Notify Tolk2Go immediately. A CBR assignment can be cancelled without consequences no later than 3 working days before a theory exam or practical exam, or 5 working days before a driving assessment. Weekends and public holidays do not count.
If you cancel later, or do not show up, a reconnection fee applies and CBR is disconnected in all your language pairs until the invoice is paid. Paying through the link in the invoice email reconnects CBR automatically.
For CBR you cannot arrange a replacement yourself; a replacement always goes through Tolk2Go.
The CBR exam types offered in the Tolk2Go CBR flow, such as theory exams, driving fitness assessments and boating licence exams.
No. CBR assignments have a fixed compensation. For theory exams and driving assessments it includes travel time and travel costs for the first 15 km one way (30 km return); beyond that you receive travel pay of € 0.50 per extra kilometre (return), up to a maximum, shown separately in the request. For practical exams the travel distance is reimbursed on top of the fee. The interpreter compensation is shown separately, excluding VAT, and is paid as that amount plus VAT. Some CBR situation names include the client’s fixed price, only to help the client choose the right situation; that is not your compensation. If the shown compensation doesn’t suit you, simply decline the request.
Some exam types, such as truck module 2, are booked rarely, so receiving few or no requests for them is normal.
Interpreting during a CBR practical exam works differently from a theory exam. Here you will find what to expect, how to prepare, and which rules apply during the practical exam.
You must meet the same CBR requirements as for theory exams: follow the working instructions, prepare with the terminology lists, and have sent in the signed CBR Code of Conduct.
In the Tolk2Go app or on the website you can choose in your profile, per language pair, which situations you want to receive. If you want theory exams but not practical exams, you switch that off there yourself. Remember to set your rate for practical exams too.
The candidate is responsible for a working phone and a holder in the vehicle. You are responsible for your side: a charged phone, signal, sound on, and staying at the exam centre.
If contact fails and this affects the exam, report it to Tolk2Go as soon as possible with a description of what happened.
Yes. Theory exams and driving assessments have a fixed rate that you cannot change. Since 1 August 2026, practical exams have been on the open market, and that does not apply there.
For practical exams you set your own rate, just as for regular assignments. You set it in your profile and can change it yourself.
When setting your rate, take the full duration into account: 85 minutes of exam for truck, bus and tractor (LZV 145 minutes), plus briefing, waiting time during the drive, debriefing and travel. Count on half a day.
The deadline differs per assignment type:
A late cancellation or a no-show costs a reconnection fee, and CBR is disconnected in all your language pairs until the invoice is paid.
See the cancellation conditions page for the full rules and a worked example.
Add the briefing, waiting time, debriefing and travel. Do not plan another assignment right after it.
Yes. You identify yourself to the examiner with a valid tolkenpas: the interpreter ID card issued by the Rbtv, the Dutch register of sworn interpreters and translators. Without a valid tolkenpas the exam does not go ahead, and it counts as a no-show.
Before accepting an assignment, check that your tolkenpas is still valid on the exam date.
Before the drive you interpret the briefing between the examiner and the candidate. Directly after the drive you interpret the debriefing and help the candidate fill in the self-reflection form.
So the assignment is not over when the vehicle returns to the exam centre. Allow time for this.
You stay at the exam centre and are reachable by phone on call. The candidate calls you when something needs to be translated.
Make sure your phone is charged, switched on and not on silent. Do not leave the exam centre during the drive. The candidate provides their own phone and phone holder in the vehicle.
Not always. There is not always enough room in the vehicle, and the examiner decides whether you ride along.
When accepting the assignment, assume you will not ride along. That way you are never caught out.
At a theory exam you sit in an exam room and translate what the CBR staff member reads out. At a practical exam the assignment is on the move:
Before your first practical assignment, read the CBR working instructions.
You work as an independent freelancer, not as an employee of Tolk2Go. You remain responsible for your own planning, travel, and professional conduct. Customer preferences may exist, but they are never guaranteed.
You work through Tolk2Go as an independent freelance interpreter. Tolk2Go does not employ interpreters.
You remain responsible for your own work planning, travel, preparation, communication within the proper process, and professional performance.
Yes. Plan realistically, with enough margin for traffic, parking, public transport delays, route errors or vehicle problems, so you arrive on time.
As an independent interpreter, that is part of your own planning. If it affects your arrival, availability or the assignment, contact the client straight away and keep written proof of what happened. The usual consequences of being late or unavailable still apply.
Yes, a client can state a preference in the booking request. The client then chooses from the interpreters who are available, following the normal platform process.
Not necessarily. A preference can play a role in the client’s choice, but it doesn’t decide the outcome. Clients don’t have to explain why they choose one interpreter over another, unless a specific rule requires it.
You handle normal practical issues yourself first. Let Tolk2Go know when the issue affects payment, scope, cancellation status, safety, legal compliance or the documented outcome of the assignment, and keep written proof.
Yes. You are self-employed and free to work for other agencies and clients, without any limits. Tolk2Go has no exclusivity.
Clients do not see your date of birth. After booking, key contact details are shared so you can coordinate the assignment where applicable.
No, your date of birth is never visible to clients. Once a booking is confirmed, we can share your full name, phone number and email with the client so you can coordinate the assignment. For CBR theory exams, the candidate never sees your name or contact details, also not after the exam.
A photo is optional; adding one can increase your chances of being chosen.
See also: example interpreter profile and how your data is used.
Tolk2Go takes care of advertising and client acquisition for you, so your profile doesn’t include personal websites or phone numbers.
Yes. Pausing your account cancels all pending assignments, but your profile remains available for future bookings. Deleting your account removes your personal information, except for data required by law.
If a reset link says it is invalid or has expired, use the link in the newest reset email: every new reset request replaces the previous link. If the newest link has expired, request one new link and use it right away. If resetting still does not work, try the website in a current browser. If the problem continues, send support a screenshot and your browser, device, and operating-system details so access can be restored.
You have probably installed the client app instead of the interpreter app. Install and open the interpreter app and sign in with your existing details. Do not register a second account. If the interpreter app still does not accept your login, update the app, and if that doesn't help, send support a screenshot of the error.
Tolk2Go periodically checks supported certification registers. Eligible verified or pending interpreters can also start a profile check from the Tolk2Go interpreter app. The check uses supported live per-person registers and requires the profile surname and email to match the register lookup. Newly found registrations and language pairs can be added; existing profile information is not removed or overwritten. Use qualification-document upload when a qualification is not available through a supported register check.
In the Tolk2Go interpreter app, tap Profile. Under My skills and fees, tap Interpreting fees and edit the relevant language pair.
For that language pair, you can switch individual specialisations, such as CBR, legal or notary, on or off. Turn a specialisation off to stop receiving those requests for that language pair.
If you received requests before registering or claiming your profile and can’t use this setting, ask Tolk2Go support to change the specialisation for that language pair.
A “Yes” or “No” to one availability request applies only to that request. Some specialisations require specific qualifications.
Some specialisations require specific qualifications and may therefore be locked or unavailable for a language pair.
Check that your qualification information is current in your profile in the Tolk2Go interpreter app and upload supporting documents when needed. If you already meet the requirements but the specialisation remains unavailable, contact Tolk2Go support.
In the Tolk2Go interpreter app, tap Profile. Under My skills and fees, tap Interpreting fees. Tap the bin icon next to the language pair you want to remove and confirm with Yes.
If the bin icon is grey, a specialisation for that language pair has been locked by Tolk2Go and you cannot remove the language pair yourself. In that case, ask Tolk2Go support to remove it.
If you only want to stop receiving certain types of assignments for a language pair, switch off those specialisations instead of removing the whole language pair.
Yes. The Tolk2Go interpreter app also runs in your web browser at www.tolk2go.com/interpreter. You use the same account and the same screens and functions as in the mobile app, without installing anything. When steps in these FAQs refer to the Tolk2Go interpreter app, for example uploading qualification documents, they also apply to this web version.
On the login screen of the Tolk2Go app or website, choose Forgot Password, enter the email address of your account and follow the instructions in the email you receive. Your login details are also in your welcome email.
If resetting your password does not work, contact support.
In the interpreter app, go to Profile and update your mobile number.
When you register as an interpreter or client, you agree to Tolk2Go's General Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy. Together, these two documents govern your use of Tolk2Go; there is no separate interpreter or client contract to download.
Read the General Terms and Conditions and the Privacy Policy.
Yes. Ask us by email and we send you a statement from our records with your registration date, the date of your first completed assignment, the number of completed assignments, and your total interpreting time per language pair.
On the website we show only your first name, the answers you gave in your profile, your rate, and your language pairs. Your last name, email address, phone number, and address are never shown on the website.
When a client books you, the booking emails give the client your last name, email address, and phone number, so they can reach you for the assignment. Your address is never shared: we use it only to calculate the distance to the assignment location. For CBR theory exams, client and interpreter stay anonymous.

That varies. It depends on demand for your language pair, your location and availability, your qualifications, specialisations and profile, and whether clients choose you after you indicate availability. With a live profile you can receive requests; how many depends on these factors.
