CBR Cancellation Policy for Interpreters
Important: the cancellation deadline and the amount differ per type of CBR assignment. Check which rule applies before you accept an assignment.
Guidelines for interpreters working through Tolk2Go
The rules at a glance
Tolk2Go arranges three types of CBR assignment. They do not all have the same cancellation deadline and the same amount. Look up the assignment you accepted in the table.

Practical exams: the cost to the client is high
At a practical exam there is more at stake than an exam room. The training provider or employer has rented a vehicle, scheduled an instructor and often taken a driver off the roster. If the exam does not go ahead, those costs still have to be paid.
In this sector, the total cost of a practical exam that does not go ahead is around € 540–€ 600: exam fee, vehicle hire, instructor and a lesson beforehand.
A lost training day is estimated at € 1,000–€ 1,500. For LZV the cost is therefore much higher.
So only accept a practical exam if you are sure you can make it. In doubt about your schedule, the travel time or the length of the assignment? Then do not accept it.
Key cancellation rules
If there are fewer than 3 full working days between your cancellation and a theory or practical exam, or fewer than 5 before a driving assessment, the amount is charged to you.
If you do not show up without cancelling in time, the same amount applies as for a late cancellation, plus extra penalty points on your reliability score.
Both the 3 and the 5 working days are counted Monday to Friday. Weekends and public holidays do not count.
Demonstrable force majeure, such as an acute medical emergency, may be treated differently if you report it immediately and support it with evidence. This applies to all three types.
How to calculate the deadline
- First check which type of assignment you have: theory exam, practical exam or driving assessment. The deadline differs.
- Take the exact date and start time of the assignment as your starting point.
- Count back in working days, Monday to Friday. Leave out weekends and public holidays.
- Cancel via the app or the website as soon as you know you cannot make it — as with any assignment.
- If that is no longer possible in time, arrange an equivalently qualified sworn interpreter to take over the assignment, or provide a valid medical certificate.
Force majeure and emergencies
In cases of demonstrable force majeure, the costs may be waived — for a theory exam, practical exam and driving assessment alike. Examples are an acute medical emergency or another serious, unforeseen event that makes attendance impossible.
- Cancel via the app or the website, as with any assignment.
- Explain what happened and when.
- Provide relevant evidence on request.
- Do not assume the cancellation is automatically accepted.
- Wait for confirmation from the Tolk2Go team.
Each case is assessed individually and may depend on the applicable CBR rules, the timing of the notice and the evidence provided.
Cancellation by the client
If the client cancels the assignment, Tolk2Go's standard cancellation policy applies. You are not fined for this as an interpreter.

What to check before you accept an assignment
- Which type of assignment it is — theory, practical or driving assessment — and which cancellation deadline goes with it.
- The exact date and start time of the assignment.
- The location and travel time. CBR exam centres are rarely around the corner.
- Whether you are available for the full duration. A truck, bus or tractor practical exam takes 85 minutes (LZV 145 minutes) and a driving assessment about 2.5 hours — plus briefing, debriefing, waiting time and travel.
- Whether your interpreter pass (tolkenpas) is still valid on the exam date.
- Whether you can do the preparation. Studying the terminology lists and working instructions is part of the assignment and is not optional.
- Keep the booking confirmation and relevant communication.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the same deadline apply to every CBR assignment?
No. For a theory exam and a practical exam it is 3 working days. For a driving assessment a longer deadline of 5 working days applies. Always check which type of assignment you accepted.
What happens if I do not show up?
The same amount applies as for a late cancellation, and you receive extra penalty points on your reliability score.
Do weekends count when calculating the deadline?
