I am a certified (and therefore genuine) interpreter of Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian and Montenegrin. I was born in Serbia and raised in Croatia. As a result, I speak perfect standard Serbian and standard Croatian, and I have no trouble reading texts written in Cyrillic script. The ease of switching between Croatian and Serbian was always a big plus for me as an interpreter, especially considering the events that took place in the Balkans in the 1990s. Unfortunately, it still happens that some interpreters are refused by clients because of their origin or accent; I never had this problem.

My experience as an interpreter is broad and diverse. I started interpreting almost immediately after coming to the Netherlands in 1992. I first worked with the English-BKSM language combination, and since 2005 also with Dutch-BKSM. I worked for various clients such as the United Nations (Yugoslavia Tribunal in The Hague), Police, Justice, IND, RvR, notaries, doctors, health and safety services and individuals. As a brief illustration, I have interpreted for, among others, General Momčilo Perišić, the Minister of Defense, Ms. Ank Bijleveld-Schouten, and Ajacied Dušan Tadić.

Born in Belgrade and raised in Zagreb, I consider myself someone with two mother tongues, Croatian and Serbian. Since 2018, I have also been working as a distance teacher of Serbian and Croatian at the LOI.

In the mid-1990s, I passed the UN interpreter exams as part of an open application process. In 2005, I obtained my diploma in Legal Interpreting in Criminal Cases at SIGV in Zaandam. In 2007, I obtained the diploma in Legal Translation in Criminal Cases at SIGV. To expand and update my knowledge, and of course to renew my registration in the RBTV, I took the General Interpreting Techniques course and the Civil Law minor at ITV in Utrecht.
