My strengths as an interpreter
After 20 years of working in business and for the government, now over 12 years on my own and independent. Since the introduction of the separate registration of interpreters in 2009, I am the only sworn Japanese interpreter in the Netherlands at C1 -the highest- level and therefore also the most experienced Japanese interpreter when it comes to interpreting for courts and notaries.
About my interpreting experience
Sworn in as a Japanese<>Dutch translator in 1990 sworn in as an interpreter in 2009. I am very versatile. I am just as happy to assist clients in court or at the solicitor's office as delegations coming to see the latest technology in Dutch tomato greenhouses, businessmen coming to negotiate with a Dutch partner with a tour of the production lines, Japanese consultants coming to make a Dutch factory 'lean' or to carry out an audit, or a delegate from the Japanese government coming to learn about Dutch and European environmental legislation.
About me (place of birth, native language, other details)
Dutch is my native language, but after twelve years of living and working experience in Japan, my Japanese language skills are called "near-native." I am very familiar with the differences between Japanese and Dutch cultures. Experience has shown that business conversations are often a mixture of Japanese, Dutch and English. I don't turn my hand to that either.
