My strengths as an interpreter
For already 30 years Interpreter/translator Japanese with work and living experience in Japan. I have a strong affinity with the Japanese way of doing business and communication which enables me to transmit the message clearly and efficiently.
About my interpreting experience
My interpreting experience is primarily technical, financial, art, sports and legal. I have a very diverse practice. One day I am interpreting in a factory during a technical meeting and the other day I interpret during a negotiation between a Japanese and Dutch company about the sale of a new product.
About me (place of birth, native language, other details)
I was born in Brussels and my mother tongue is Dutch. For 17 years I was an attorney at law working at large international law firms where I was head of the Japan Desk. I worked for Japanese companies investing in the Netherlands and I used my Japanese everyday.
Credentials
Two Master's degrees: Languages and Cultures of Japan and Civil Law, Leiden University; One-year program Okayama University and two-year program Tokyo University; PhD at Leiden University about Japanese contract law.
