Interpretation is what I love and do best! I have an excellent command of Arabic and English and a very good knowledge of French. I am an excellent listener, I listen carefully to both parties and I accurately interpret the message being conveyed. I am good at understanding regionalism, I always try to familiarize myself with the regional variations of the language I interpret including dialects and accents, colloquialisms and expressions, and cultural context. I can work in a variety of settings, from courtrooms to mental health to international conferences. Last but not least, I excel under pressure, remain calm and deliver quality work. I have an intrinsic drive to always keep learning and developing existing skills.

Over the last 24 years, I have built a track record of delivering impeccable interpretation and translation work. From July 2009 until July 2021, I worked for the Special Tribunal for Lebanon in The Hague as a professional linguist providing Arabic <> English/ French > Arabic translations, and simultaneous and consecutive interpretation during events and meetings hosted by STL. Since July 2021, I am accredited by the International Criminal Court (ICC) as a translator and conference interpreter. In addition to that, I provide Arabic <> English/ French > Arabic simultaneous and consecutive interpretation and translation services for UN organizations, European Commission, European Union, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations on site in Europe and remotely via several platforms such as Zoom, Interprefy, and Kudo.

My name is Hala, I come from Lebanon. I have been living in The Netherlands for almost 14 years. My native language is Arabic, and I am proficient in both English and French. I am currently studying Dutch and I finished my B2 level. I take pride in my work and achievements and I am conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments.
