My strengths as an interpreter
Through extensive experience and training, I have been able to specialize in various topics that are important for interpreting conversations accurately. For example, I have been able to master good note-taking techniques in order to convey the saying correctly and completely between different interlocutors. A proper deontological attitude is very important to me. Topics such as privacy and impartiality are very important to me. I can speak different Arabic dialects due to my extensive experience in different areas of interpreting.
About my interpreting experience
I have been working as a social and sworn Arabic interpreter since 2013. As a social interpreter for various social facility such as hospitals, schools, town halls, etc..In addition, I also work for the CGRS in Belgium (asylum applications) and have been working for police and courts as a sworn interpreter for more than ten years.
About me (place of birth, native language, other details)
I was born in Lebanon making Levantine my native language. I was educated in Lebanon until university which allowed me to specialize in standard Arabic, both oral and written. I know different Arabic dialects through more than ten years of experience as an interpreter for clients from different Arabic speaking countries.
Credentials
I trained in Belgium as a social interpreter of Arabic to and from Dutch. At the University of Ghent I followed the advanced training for sworn interpreters and translators in the languages Dutch, English and Arabic. Over the past ten years, I have also followed additional training courses on various relevant topics such as interpreting techniques, deontology, gender, asylum law, justice, etc.
