My main strengths as an interpreter are my language skills, cultural sensitivity and my ability to communicate clearly and neutrally, even in stressful or sensitive situations. Because of my background, I am well trained in discipline, accuracy and maintaining confidentiality. I am flexible, stress-resistant and can interpret both simultaneously and consecutively. My experience with official agencies helps me follow protocols well and act professionally.

I currently work as a freelance interpreter and work for companies, where I interpret both on location and by telephone. For this, I went through an extensive process with language and skills tests, including a baseline measurement at Elycio Languages (outcome: C2 level) and an Interpreting Skills test. These experiences have prepared me for a wide range of conversations, from medical and legal to military and social.

My native language is Turkish and I was born and raised in the Netherlands. I completed the Middle East Studies program at Leiden University, specializing in Turkish language and culture. This course was taught entirely in Dutch and further strengthened my academic language skills. Due to my bilingual background and academic education, I have an in-depth knowledge of both languages and cultures, which enables me to interpret accurately and with the right nuance.

I hold a degree in Middle Eastern Studies with a specialization in Turkish language and culture from Leiden University. I have also successfully completed several interpreting-related courses, including a baseline assessment at Elycio Languages with a C2 level assessment for Turkish and Dutch, and an Interpreting Skills test. I also have a recent VOG for interpreters.
