Overall, it was very useful to have a translator there. Even if the chair of the Board of Examiners could understand a good part of the discussion in Dutch, having an (almost) real-time translation made him feel safer and more relaxed. The translator was also very good. She was calm, speaking slowly and in an understandable way, so he really didn’t miss anything of the discussion. In the couple of times when he was talking, she was also very fast and efficient in translating his words back to Dutch.
