My strengths as an interpreter

Interpreter in interpreting assignments for municipalities participation scheme and translation of Brochures and psychological examinations of various psychological institutions, interpreter at CBR, Raad voor Kinderbescherming at courts throughout the Netherlands. I have experience through information presentation in both languages Arabic/Dutch indicated with general Information/ counseling interviews with clients( Syrian refugees), professionals and other stakeholders which includes the following topics: Support the client in bringing structure to the family and or living situation.

About my interpreting experience

I work as an interpreter with IND, Justice through AVB, Acolad, and Global. Translator at the following interpreting organizations: SIGV: as translator of all Brochures and information for Refugee Council and Justice and also interpreting assignments for the Probation Service. Support and encourage the client in arranging practical matters. Support the client in talking to/visiting institutions and agencies. Draw up a guidance plan and implement it together with the client if necessary, Provide parenting support in two cultures through information in Arabic for Syrian refugees about the new norms and customs in the Netherlands.

About me (place of birth, native language, other details)

I am of Jordanian descent. I have been living and working in the Netherlands for over 25 years. I still have close contacts with my native Jordan. To get a good picture of me I would like to explain the following: I grew up in Jordan until the age of 18 and later lived in Syria for another 6 years where I studied and got my degree in Pharmacy. Since 1998 I have been working in the Netherlands. In recent years I have studied "Master level " and gained work experience in Arab countries/ the Netherlands. In recent years I also have a lot of experience in mediation and communication between companies in the Middle East and the Netherlands. For now I would like to do something with my broad experience with refugees and foreigners by being able to help as an interpreter and build cultural bridge between them and the new life in NL, I would like to contribute by using my experiences in both countries and my background knowledge to improve integration of Syrian refugees in NL.
