My strengths as an interpreter
I am language proficient, empathetic and can quickly switch between different languages and cultures. Thanks to my volunteer work with refugees in various fields such as social services, refugee work, hospitals and social work, I understand the importance of clear and respectful communication, especially in sensitive situations. I work accurately, remain calm under pressure, and am always neutral and professional in my role as an interpreter. My background enables me to understand and support people well not only linguistically, but also culturally.
About my interpreting experience
I have gained experience as a volunteer interpreter within the refugee community, in interviews with government agencies, doctors, schools and aid organizations. My interpreting work focuses mainly on Arabic (Syrian/Libanese, Iraqi and Standard), Kurdish (Kurmanji) and Dutch.
About me (place of birth, native language, other details)
My mother tongues are Kurdish (Kurmanji) and Arabic. The Arabic language I studied in school and university, and I am fluent in several dialects, including Syrian/Libanese, Iraqi and Egyptian. In addition, I am also fluent in Dutch.
